PLUS CLASS MONDAY AND TUESDAY 12/22 AND 12/23

MONDAY: we will have a split lesson: one group will be working on enrichment (challenge problems) and the other will be working on remediation (reviewing chapter 4). Each group will have a graded assignment to be completed in class.

TUESDAY: if y'all come prepared, we will have our holiday celebration. Please sign up to bring something for the party. If not, it will be Jeopardy (round 2) continued from Friday.

YOU WILL NOT HAVE HOMEWORK OVER BREAK unless you are someone who's asked for work to bring up your grade.

HONORS ALGEBRA 12/15 THROUGH 12/22

Tuesday: we will cover graphing absolute value equations and inequalities (lesson extension after 6.5 and section 6.6). Assignments: 1-7 page 397 and 3-27 odds page 401. Remember that you have a homework assignment due today (practice worksheet assigned on 12/11).

Thursday: we will wrap up section 6.6 and review for a chapter 6 test.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 22ND: Chapter 6 test

My help night this week is TUESDAY in room 118. Remember that the Math Lab is open T-W-Th this week.

You will NOT have homework over Christmas break.

PLUS CLASS WEEK OF DECEMBER 15TH

Monday: we are going to finish section 4.5 and work with parallel lines and some application problems (exercises 30-35; 40-41). We will also begin section 4.6 on direct variation and your homework is: exercises 3-9 (all) and 11-21 (odds). 

Tuesday: we will review ALL of chapter 4. If you're absent, you need to complete the chapter review: pages 271-276 exercises 1-28 to prepare for your chapter 4 test and review all quizzes from chapter 4.

Wednesday: CHAPTER 4 TEST

Thursday: we will begin chapter 5 and begin section 5.1 writing equations in slope-intercept form. We will complete exercises 1-23 odds in class and the homework will be 2-22 evens.

Friday: we will finish section 5.1. We will complete exercises 24-26 and 28-29 on page 287 in class. You will then begin a practice worksheet that will be started in class and finished for homework.

HONORS CLASS WEEK OF DECEMBER 8TH

Tuesday: we will cover section 6.4 on compound inequalities. In-class practice: 3-19 odds; 37 and 41. Homework: 14-28 evens 40 and 43.

Thursday: a homework review will be followed by section 6.5 on solving absolute value equations. Classwork: 12-20 evens and 23-31 odds page 393. Be prepared for a SHORT exit quiz on 6.4 (no more than 3 problems). HOMEWORK: a practice worksheet for 6.5 DUE TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16TH.

Monday: we will finish up sections 4.4 with some extra practice worksheets. If you were absent Friday and did not finish Thursday's quiz, you will have time to do that.

Tuesday: we will cover section 4.5 and graph equations in slope-intercept form. Exercises 4-19 will be done and reviewed in class. Homework will be 21-29 on page 248.

Wednesday: we will review and practice section 4.5 in class through board work and some extra practice worksheets.

Thursday: you will have a QUIZ on sections 4.4 and 4.5. You will NOT have homework over the weekend; however, if you have been absent at all this week, use the weekend to get caught up. If you miss today's quiz, you will be expected to take it on Monday.

ALGEBRA 1 HONORS WEEK OF DECEMBER 2ND

Wednesday: we will cover sections 6.1 through 6.3 today. This is a review of solving and graphing inequalities to include multi-step inequalities. This is today's assignment: page 359 6-18 evens; 19, page 366 4-14 evens, page 372 3-14 (all) and 18-28 evens.

Friday: we will cover application problems involving inequalities from sections 6.1 through 6.3. There will also be a short EXIT QUIZ on sections 6.1 through 6.3. Your homework is: 29-35; 37 in section 6.3. The classwork was exercises 41 and 42.

PLUS CLASS WEEK OF DECEMBER 2ND

Prior to this week, we covered sections 4.1 and 4.2 in your text.

Tuesday: we will cover section 4.3 and use intercepts to graph equations. If you are absent, you can access PowerPt presentations on classzone. I will cover examples 1-4 today. The assignment for this section is: 4-30 and #44. We will do some in class and the rest will be homework.

Wednesday: we will review and finish section 4.3 and complete practice on sections 4.1 through 4.3.

Thursday: QUIZ on sections 4.1 through 4.3.

Friday: extra practice worksheet (finish for homework); section 4.4 exercises 4-18 will be done in class.

I will be in room 118 after school on Wednesday. You can also attend the Math Lab on T-W or Th if you need additional help.

HONORS NOVEMBER 24TH

Monday: We are working in groups today on application problems to include chart problems. This involves a handout, so if you are absent, please email me about today's assignments. We will also spend the last part of class reviewing errors from the chapter 5 test. Homework will be to complete any work from today's class that you did not finish. You should also be reviewing/correcting errors from your own test.

Wednesday: We will begin with a bell ringer chart problem that will be collected for points. We will continue working with chart problems and you will receive an extra practice worksheet that you will begin in class and finish over break. The extra practice worksheet is a graded assignment that will be due DECEMBER 3RD.

PLUS CLASS WEEK OF NOVEMBER 24TH-26TH

We will begin chapter 4 and will we be graphing linear equations. We will cover sections 4.1 and 4.2 this week. YOU NEED GRAPH PAPER AND A RULER for class each day that we are working in chapter 4. (DW....this means you, too!)

PLUS CLASS CHAPTER 3 TEST ON EQUATIONS

The test on equations (chapter 3 sections 3.1 through 3.4) is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19th. We are spending Monday and Tuesday practicing and reviewing those sections for the test.

THIS WILL BE THE LAST GRADE TAKEN FOR TERM 1. Please be there!

Monday: homework will be reviewed; bring any questions that you have about 5.1 and 5.2 to class as a QUIZ on those sections will follow the homework review. We will be starting section 5.3. Email me or a classmate for the specific assignment if you are absent.

I will be staying after school on Thursday, the 6th for anyone who has questions or needs help on 5.1 and 5.2. You could start your homework at that time so that I will be there to address your questions.

HONORS CHAPTER 4 TEST

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30TH is the day of your Chapter 4 test. You will complete half of the test in class and take the remaining half home. The second half of the test is DUE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD at the beginning of class. If you are absent on Tuesday, you MUST turn in the test by 8:30 Wednesday morning. You will give it to Mrs. Zimmerman in the library (Info Center). Late papers will NOT be accepted, so you need to make this a priority. FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS ON THE TEST. GOOD LUCK!!

We will be working on properties of numbers and one-step equations this week.

We are completing sections 4.5 and 4.6 this week. We will have a full class review on Wednesday. PLEASE BE THERE! ALSO....remember that the Math Lab is open three days per week, so you could go for help Tuesday after school OR Wednesday morning to prepare for the test. This week we will cover sections 7.7 and 4.1 through 4.4. We will have a game review on Laker Day (Friday) and you will have a QUIZ ON SECTIONS 4.1 THROUGH 4.4 ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 20TH.

If you are absent, we are covering one section per day and you can either email me for the class assignment OR use the eworkbook page for any section(s) that you miss for practice. Note: We will complete chapter 4 the following week and I anticipate a Chapter 4 Test to be given on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH.

HONORS-WEEK OF OCTOBER 13TH

By Thursday, October 16th, we will be working in chapter 4. YOU WILL NEED GRAPH PAPER AND A RULER (or straight edge). Please have these with you when you come to class on the 16th.

ASSIGNMENT DUE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14TH-HONORS

The proportion and percent sections of chapter 3 are a pre algebra review. I just need to know that you are able to recall how to work with those types of problems. To do that, I need you to complete the following:

1.Log onto www.classzone.com and locate your textbook (use Chrome or Firefox as your browser if using your iPad)

2. Click on eworkbook, go to chapter 3 and complete 10 problems in EACH section: 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7

3. Record ALL work for those problems in your notebook (you may use a calculator when dealing with decimals/percent problems) and click on check answers after completing 10 problems in each section and RECORD your score OR print those pages.

4. If you need help, you can access the @hometutor link on the first page and view instructional videos. You can also find help on my blog by checking out the virtual nerd link on my blog that was set up for my Plus class.

5. I will be checking your notebooks on Tuesday to see how you did. If the class as a whole knows what they are doing, there will be no need for further practice, but you are responsible for knowing those sections as they will appear on the term final. Therefore, if you have any questions, please be prepared to ask those questions in class on the 14th.

CORRECTION ON PROBLEM 1 OF TUESDAY'S BELL RINGER: 10-7-14

In the equation   25x/7 -7x = 12, I needed to multiply EACH term of the equation by 7 to eliminate the denominator. That means it would look like: 25x-49x = 84. The solution is -21/6.

On your test, you may see an equation like this : 25x/5 - 7 = 12. In this case, you have TWO choices: you can reduce 25x/5 to 5x and solve OR multiply EACH term by 5 and solve.
